In case you missed it, this week marks the beginning of the first ever Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition challenge event! Similar to our Age of Empires II events over the past year, this is an opportunity for you to complete in-game challenges each day, unlock exclusive rewards, and celebrate everything that the Definitive Edition has to offer. Also like the Age II DE events, only one challenge can be completed each day: so you’ll need to heed the call of the battlefield on six different days to unlock them all!
As this is the first event, we’ve (appropriately…and because we couldn’t think of anything better…) named it the INAUGURAL EVENT! With a brand new Profile Avatar system in the game, this is your opportunity to unlock seven new avatars to add to your library—a great way to choose and broadcast your mood to your opponents!
- Feel like a war llama sent to rain destruction on your enemies?
- Have the Swedes become your favorite civ? Could your Caroleans use a much-needed break?
- Feeling like a golden capybara? Like….ALL THE TIME?
Now is your opportunity to earn and unlock each of these icons! But remember: they are only available to earn during the event, so be sure to come back each day to complete new challenges as you make your way through the list!

Each of the following challenges must be unlocked in order and on separate days:
| DAY 1 | 🔒 Play a single or multiplayer game as the Inca. 🏆 Unlocks the Armored Llama profile icon. |
| DAY 2 | 🔒 Win any single or multiplayer Treaty game. 🏆 Unlocks the Dove carrying a Musket profile icon. |
| DAY 3 | 🔒 Play a single or multiplayer game as the Swedes. 🏆 Unlocks the Battle-worn Carolean profile icon. |
| DAY 4 | 🔒 Destroy 10 military ships in any game mode. 🏆 Unlocks the Galleon with Black Sails profile icon. |
| DAY 5 | 🔒 Beginning with a Nomad start, advance to the Imperial Age in any Skirmish or multiplayer game. 🏆 Unlocks the Golden Capybara profile icon. |
| DAY 6 | 🔒 Revolt in any Skirmish or multiplayer game. 🏆 Unlocks the Revolutionary profile icon. |
Keep Them All!
In order to save all of your unlocks, you will need to complete the universal challenge to sign into Xbox Live at some point during the event. This is where we track your reward unlocks during these exclusive events, so you’ll want to ensure you have a free Xbox Live account to enjoy all the perks the Age series has to offer! It even comes with it’s own profile icon for completing the task!
