Just downloaded this via Xbox Game Pass for Windows and runs fine until I install the Enhanced Graphics Pack. When this is on i get "system attemped to load an incorrectly-formatted asset;some assets will not display".
Completely out of the box setup, no mods or changes to settings yet. I have tried multiple steps online and beleive the issue is due to versions. In Windows Store the AOE2DE versions is: 101.101.34223.0 and the Enhanced Graphics Pack is: 101.101.34055.0 (version behind). When pressing "Get Update" or even reinstalling I still get the same errors.
Any help appreciated, would like to buy this but quite glad I got it through Game Pass in the end!

Since this update i have been geting so many crashes which i haven't experienced before.
Usually the game crashes in the castle age, and only in ranked.
Don't know if this helps but i hope you can fix it...

Good news. But what about fixing the download/install issue of the game? Per my experience, I can't download or install Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition from the Microsoft Store. The issue is the same with the prior version of this game (AOE: Definitive Edition). I have reset the store app, erased the cache, restarted the computer several times, erased temporary files, and other things recommended by Microsoft Support with no luck whatsoever. All other apps download/install fine from the store, except this game. All I get is a message stating: "Try Again Later. Something happened in our end."
Completely disappointed. If I knew about this earlier, I should've bought the game from Steam.

Is there a traditional (AoE II) single-player option available in this game or are there only the predefined campaigns available? I cannot see the single player mode.

Hope there will be a Slavs-Campaign for once (Russians, Serbians, Poles etc.)!!!

Hi. I think the multiplayer built in platform is good. Easy to use and the matchmaking system foster playing more maps. Yet I think there are a few things missing:
    1) If a player get disconnected it should give the option to save or wait for the player to reconnect or save to restart the game later. The game have always had such options.
    2) Once the game has finished, should provide the option to play a rated rematch straight.
    3) While queuing there should be the option in the civic selection to see the tech-tree. So we can get familiar with the civilizations while waiting for a game.
Good luck and have a happy new year.

However I´m on Game Pass for PC... Not Steam... maybe some driver compatibility Developers Team?

I´m experiencing the exactly same scenario here... very
      disappointing... :(

Hi everyone. For those experiencing crashes running the game on a laptop with intel HD graphics (I have the HD 520), the performance can be significantly enhanced by adding ram and cleaning the laptop inside. To my original 8gb ram I added 4gb I found on a laptop in the trash bin and it MADE a big difference. Not sure if that influence the temperature of the laptop or it was just because I cleaned the dust inside and lint in the main fan, but now I'm not having those crashes.
