GAME

Stability & Performance

  • Fixed an issue where players would receive a “low disk space” warning when queuing for multiplayer matches.

Audio

  • Added new voice-over lines for Chinese units.

GAMEPLAY

  • Reverted the change which encouraged Settlers to seek out and collect distant resources, as it could lead to several unintended behaviors.
  • Corrected an issue where the building and upgrade buttons could shift down in the UI after receiving certain cards from the Home City, thus making them inaccessible.

ONGOING INVESTIGATION

As always, we are continuing to track issues reported by the community for future updates. The notes have not changed from our last major update as we continue to focus on the most important issues impacting your play:

  • Units getting stuck in immobile objects: There are several unique circumstances which can result in units getting stuck in objects, and we’re looking to track down and fix them all! Watch for more fixes in future updates.
  • Ongoing investigation into issues with Attack-Move: We’ve read your reports and want to continue working on improving the behavior of and fixing issues related to the Attack-Move command.
  • Adding additional Treaty options to Ranked: Of course we’re working on new tools for you to use in your games!
  • Explorers can refuse to build Trading Posts: We’re sending out Marshalls to have a word with them…

4 out of every 5 games queued ends up in a crash. Maybe iron out these bugs BEFORE releasing an update? Geez....

110 hours, 100+ ranked games since launch: 1 crash, 3 connection drops, 2 times I was stuck in the transition to the game and I live on the other side of the planet. These changes are imperative to people who are running the game smoothly.

The Lakota (Sioux) really need some dedicated siege units than just the Fire Ceremony. Why must they be the only "special case" in comparison to every other playable Civilisation in the game when it comes to sieging? Even if the Aztecs do not have artillery they have at least the Arrow Knight for long range siege capabilities while the Lakota has nothing of this sort. An adversary player familiar with the deficiencies of the Lakota can easily wall them out with layers of walls. Or go straight into the Lakota player's base in order to destroy their Community Plaza. Having only access to the Fire Ceremony makes the siege capabilities of the Lakota very crippling. As a suggestion for siege units they could be given a fourth trainable infantry type plus a new building, similar to the Siege Workshop of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), that trains building wrecking units. Here is a list of unit ideas: (Warhammer Wielder): A tougher infantry unit armed with a two handed weighted club. These units could also have the ability to ignore melee resistance of enemy units dealing always or most of the time full damage. (Thunder Wagon): While this unit may not be historically accurate, I think it would be a great idea if the Lakota had a siege unit that can quickly bust through walls. The Thunder Wagon is essentially a stolen covered wagon that has been filled with explosives and will fulfil the same role as the Petard unit. (Slinger horseman): A cavalry unit armed with a sling that will throw fiery projectiles or explosives from a safe distance to destroy enemy buildings. (A cannon variant/ or other long range siege unit): According to the old Wiki regarding the Light Cannon the Lakota (Sioux) were supposed to have it as well, but if the idea of giving the Lakota a cannon won't make it through they could instead have an infantry unit firing flaming arrows kinda like the Arrow Knight. The Fire Ceremony could in the end be changed so it only affects the infantry and cavalry units of the Lakota to a lesser degree (Reduce the boost from the Fire Ceremony), while the Club Warrior and Warhammer Wielder still retains a decent siege attack power without the need of the Fire Ceremony.

Here are also some leftover ideas that I had in mind. New cards/ technologies for Lakota — (Serrated Arrowhead): Available in Age IV, Bow Riders has a chance to inflict bleeding debuff. A card that will decrease the population cost for at least one or two cavalry units available to the Lakota. Maybe both the Axe rider and Rifle Rider? Another Card, available in Age IV or V, that makes the Tokala Soldier trainable from the Corral or decreases their training time from the Community Plaza. (Bone Breaker): This card or technology will upgrade the regular Club Warriors into Bone Breakers. Making them more stronger and damage resilient (But not powerful enough as the Warhammer Wielder). The reason for this upgrade is to make the Club Warrior more useful in the later game, because I find them to be "too squishy" for being a heavy infantry unit. The Bone Breaker unit may or may not have the ability to cause "Bone Fracture", which will permanently decrease the stats of the enemy unit until they have been healed. A new building for the Haudenosaunee that will slowly generate wood resources (Working similar to the Dutch banks) and a hand mortar unit for them to make up for their late access to the Light Cannon (During Age IV). (Polearm Huntsman): A pikeman unit for the Haudenosaunee that unlike the rest of the spear carrying family in the game won't be useful against buildings. Aside from being a counter to cavalry units they can serve as an alternative raider against Settlers/ Villagers (Behaving somewhat of a Spanish Rodelero). To make them further interesting as a unit they can have the ability to "Pierce" causing extra damage to enemy units. Card that makes the Skull Knight trainable for the Aztecs from the Noble's Hut. Make defensive approaches/strategies more viable in the game. Where Outposts, Blockhouses, War huts, Castles and Forts etc are more tougher to take down and does more damage to the attackers. Forts and Factories could also be rebuildable but perhaps a cool down should be applied to the Factory before it can be rebuilt. The fortified walls in the Campaign could potentially be a third upgrade to the walls in multiplayer and if possible every Civilisation could have their own distinct wall architecture. Three new defensive structures could also be introduced to the game: 1# (Volley Gun Defender): This structure will shoot multiple projectiles where it can handle bigger armies than the Outpost, however despite having longer range it will be less durable than the former and is better placed behind walls. 2# A similar building to the Fixed Gun that appears in the Campaign can be added to the Multiplayer where it will act as hybrid between a building and an artillery unit. Both the Volley gun defender and the Fixed Gun will only be available to the European Civilisations, however they can't have access to both of them therefore the Ottomans, French and Swedish for example will either have the Volley gun defender or the Fixed gun. 3# (Sharps####### Nest): Exclusive to the Native American Civilisations, for the Lakota, Haudenosaunee and perhaps the Incas, it will work the same as a Volley Gun Defender. After this I have nothing else to add concerning potential content that can be implemented in order to improve the already existing Civilisations. Some of the ideas that I have written are not originally my own and are based on other peoples suggestions/ideas.

—Except for making these changes to the Lakota a few newer units could also be added to the other Civilisations as well for the lack of units. The Ottomans for example should be given the option to train other infantry units from the barracks than just the Janissary, like an Archer unit (Plus the Spahi from the stable, and possibly be nerfed). And both the Indians and the Aztecs could have access to at least a second ranged siege unit. (Rocketeer) a cheaper and more population effective artillery unit for the Indians and (Fire starter) a grenadier like slinger for the Aztecs including a (Crocodile Stormer Knight) that is a stronger version of the Coyote Runner, with the ability to charge temporarily running faster and where they can stun certain units. The Japanese could train a (Mantlet unit) of their own. A fourth trainable naval vessel for the Lakota and Haudenosaunee that can take more of a beating than the War Canoe before getting destroyed (This unit can also be given to the Incas as a second naval unit choice for them). When it comes to the European Civilisations they could train a second heavy cavalry unit from the stables that is more armoured and therefore tougher but slower than the Hussar called the (Cavalier or something like that). For balance reasons this unit could be given to every European Civilisation except for the French, Spanish and Ottomans. (A Blunderbuss unit): This unit will be accessible to the European Civilisations as either an infantry or cavalry unit, they will deal ranged AOE damage but have a short range. (Musketoon): For the European Civilisations that won't have the cavalry counterpart of the Blunderbuss unit they can instead possess the Musketoon, which will basically be a Dragoon with longer range. A (Hand-mortar Operator unit): Would be a nice addition to the Artillery foundry consequently a (Nock gunner) for the British. Finally the Haudenosaunee could have a third cavalry unit called the (Boomstick rider) that is the native counterpart of the Blunderbuss unit on horseback. In order to make them a bit special these units can behave similar to the Yojimbo, Japanese Mercenary, where they are good both at range and in melee combat.

A lot units during the Historic Battles got stuck in an immovable terrain. It happened so often that I even tried to see why does it happen and I found out that, when I drop my units off a ship and attack click them into a certain destination with hills and/or trees while moving my camera somewhere else the units get stuck. If I have my camera locked at all times to the units in question, it does not occur at all. Especially visible during the carribean historical battle with, "Drake & the Spanish"

Glad to have new unit voices for Chinese units! But I wonder if you guys will replace Japanese unit voices too, they have the same situation as the Chinese ones. And still, the lines of Tokugawa in Chinese Localization remain placed in wrong folders, you just need to swap those lines in chat folder and dialogue folder then the problem can be solved! Hope to hear good news from you next week.

One more thing, the new voice-over line for Chinese miner is "货物工"(huo wu gong), literally "worker who deals with goods" which does not make sense. This line was "采矿工"(cai kuang gong), literally "worker who mines" in old Traditional Chinese version, which is better. Hope you can change this line, thx.
