Happy December to our Age of Empires IV community! 2025 has been an exciting year for Age IV – filled with updates, patches, our launch on PlayStation 5, as well as the releases of Knights of Cross and Rose and Dynasties of the East – and we can’t wait to see you in 2026!
Before we start prepping for the New Year, however, we wanted to deliver on some important bug fixes and balance changes, many of which impact content newly introduced in Dynasties of the East.
This patch brings additional fixes to issues resulting in lost Perk Points, changes to our Ranked Map Pool, and adjustments to units like the Torguud, Worker Elephant, and Healer Elephant.
Thanks again to our amazing community members, all of whom have helped to make Age of Empires what it is today!

Bugfixes
- Completing Crucible Masteries now unlocks the full amount of Perk Points, rather than only a subset of them. While this has been fixed going forward, the team is looking to partially restore lost Perk Points for players impacted by this issue in the new year.
- Resolved an issue where completing a Mastery and then restarting the match would reset Mastery completion and result in Perk Points not being unlocked.
- Cloud saves now function as expected for The Crucible on most platforms, meaning Perk Points you’ve earned against a certain account will now be available after a fresh install or on a new device. Note that we are still tracking a fix for this issue on PlayStation 5.
- Cursed Boons had a bit of a scary look to them (we believe they may have scared some players off from picking them), so we updated their look to a friendlier version – all hugs and a minor warning color. 😊
- Boons: All Things Being Equal & Overwhelming Charge Boons have new unique icon variations.
- While playing in Conqueror mode, deep sea fish will no longer regenerate food.
- Knights Templar Fortress Trebuchet Emplacements no longer count for the Upgrade Roulette boon.

- Fixed Stone by Stone Mastery sometimes failing to complete.
- Fixed the missing wall towers on the Central Lane in Daimyo Dynamics mission.
- The Crucible Siege Engineer could build HuiHui Paos that were stronger than intended. We’ve asked him to tone it down a little, and the HuiHui Paos are now more in line with their Skirmish variants.
- Fixed an issue that prevented the Raid buildings objective on Daimyo Dynamics from being completed. This objective is also not intended to award perk points as it’s a mission specific ongoing objective. We’ll be looking to address the in-game messaging around that in a later patch.
- Fixed a bug where Relic Carts were being selected by Military Selection hotkeys.
