A really nice campaign, with 3 very different maps and victory conditions. The first two maps are not that difficult even on hardest, but the last map steps up the pace and it really fits nice with the historical narrative that is excellently written.

Oof. Like the other commenters, I really struggled with the last mission and was unable to beat it without cheats. I tried several different strategies: hunkering down on the starting island (absolutely got wrecked), aggressively attacking and destroying red as soon as the game started, doing that and then moving over to their more-wallable location... every time I was unable to gain control of the sea or to beat the hordes of Minoan composite bowmen, which can kite essentially forever against any other unit composition. ... Even so, though, I had fun with the campaign! The first mission was very cool; I hadn't played any set-piece battles in Age of Empires before, and it was a lot of fun. The second mission I think was my favorite, even though normally I struggle with non-macro maps; it just felt so cool to journey down the river and tackle everyone along the way.

I also really tried many tactics for the last map. My final tactic went way easier than expected: Send the cataphract to brown (close to his towcenter, but out of range from the closest tower) and kill villagers, he only has two scouts that you can easily kill with the cata. Then send the hoplites to far east corner where there is a yellow tower defending some berries, take a villager and build a tower close to the berries and defend it with the hoplites, yellow will use all his resources trying to destroy the tower. The biggest problem is to keep the Cataphract alive while using your ships... I lost all my ships to begin with, but made sure to get enough lumber production for repairing the dock, and eventually rebuilding the fleet. But with yellow and browns economies destroyed, the map suddenly went easy, even on hardest ;) I really enjoyed beating this map after some tries!

What a beautifully done campaign. Great differences between the first scenario which is essentially a huge battle, the second which is an adventure, and the third which is your classic build beat back and win make for exciting gameplay. I would agree with the last commentator the last scenario is VERY tough I have not been able to beat it on Hardest, however I know it can be done I have seen some videos of it being completed at that level.

The last scenario seems rather difficult. Immediately I am attacked by yellow. I can kill quite a few of them with the starting cavalry unit but they ultimately overwhelm me before I can even really get started well.
