A Series of Fundraising Events in Support of Women

Age of Queens is honored to present Queens’ Charity Clash: A fundraising event featuring a series of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition showmatches played by women honoring International Women’s Day. Teams will each represent one of two charities that support and uplift women: Girls Who Code or the Games and Online Harassment Hotline, in a month-long showdown for charity funds!

Players will represent one of these charities and compete to score points in a variety of showmatch settings throughout the month. Throughout the events, donations will be collected into one giant fund. At the end, funds will be split between the two charities based on the outcome of the match. For example, if those playing for Girls Who Code win 60% of the games, then Girls Who Code will get 60% of all the donations collected.

Who are the Age of Queens?

Age of Queens (AoQ) is a community of women who play Age of Empires: an active Discord group trying to bring women players together, encourage more women to pick up the game, and help one another to improve and have fun! Age of Queens regularly hosts events including game nights and a variety of tournaments and showmatches. The AoQ community is a safe space for anyone identifying as a woman to have a platform to find games, participate in events, share experiences or make friendships- there is something for everyone to enjoy, regardless of skill!

About the Charities

Girls Who Code: Girls Who Code is a nonprofit organization which aims to support and increase the number of women in computer science by equipping young women with the necessary computing skills to pursue 21st century opportunities.

Games and Online Harassment Hotline: The Games and Online Harassment Hotline is a free, text message-based, confidential emotional support hotline, created specifically for the gaming community. Designed to support anyone in the gaming community, the hotline provides both emotional support and help connecting gamers to referrals and resources.
